Annika Toyah Bode was born in 2003 and grew up in Bochum, Germany.
She is currently based in Arnhem, The Netherlands.
Her work is guided by play, intuition and daydreams, it spans poetry, painting, film, photography, and performance, shaped by early experiences in spoken word, theatre and contemporary dance.
Language, colour, texture, movement and sound are central to her artistic practice.
She listens closely to materials, follows improvisation, and considers herself as the first audience of a developing piece.
Collaboration and shared moments of creation matter to her as much as the final result, allowing space for stories to drift and unexpected associations to emerge.
